What clubs are out there and which one’s should you join?

caravan club

The camping and caravanning scene is booming! Did you know that at least 1 in 13 households in Australia own an RV of some sort? It’s no surprise that there’s a plethora of clubs and support around for keen campers.  Have you joined a club?

So what sort of clubs and groups are out there?

Facebook Groups and other Social Media

Well, if you haven’t already joined, there are usually Facebook owner’s groups for most brands of caravans or RVs. These are not only a great source of technical information, they also often arrange social outings for owners, meaning you can get to go away camping and meet other like-minded adventurers.

Additionally, there are so many ‘influencers’ on Instagram and YouTube who provide hints, tips and updates on their travel adventures. One of our favourites is Trip in a Van – a young family who have been travelling Australia for years!

Caravan Clubs

There are many other clubs you can join, including caravanning clubs. Caravan Clubs of QLD provides a list of caravan clubs in each region plus information on caravanning in general and upcoming events. Alternatively, you might like to join Australian Caravan Club Limited – this website provides lots of great information – everything from appliance recalls to upcoming ‘musters’ and tips and tools. These are just a couple. A Google search will show many more!

4WD clubs

Other social type clubs you could consider are 4WD clubs. There are many to choose from – some focus on type of rig you drive and others are just looking to have fun with likeminded people in their region. Four Wheel Drive Queensland has a list of possible clubs you could join.

Park Memberships

What about Park Memberships? What are they? And are they worth it?

Many park memberships offer discounts and rewards for staying in their affiliated parks. Some even offer reward points and discounts with other retailers. Some of the ones to check out are:

Motoring Groups

Organisations such as RACQ (or their equivalent in other states) and NRMA are also a great resource and offer special offers and deals for travellers. Being a member not only provides peace of mind while you are on the road, but you can also access member discounts on a range of products including fuel, movie vouchers and theme parks and attractions. They also provide resources like trip planners which can help you plan your next adventure.

So whether you are looking for advice, support, discounts, or meeting some new people, there’s a ‘club’ out there for you! Happy Camping!!
