Dometic Ibis 4 Inverter Roof Top Air Conditioner

Dometic Ibis 4 Caravan Air Conditioner

The Ibis 4 roof top air conditioner is leading the way in terms of caravan air conditioners, even when compared with its predecessor the Dometic Ibis 3. It has come leaps and bounds thanks to the revolutionary dual cylinder horizontal compressor which results in a lighter weight, higher capacity, improved efficiency, and less noise. While the inverter technology seen in the Ibis 4 is used across a number of home appliances, the Ibis 4 is the first to utilize the technology in RV roof top air conditioning.

Features:

  • Dual cylinder horizontal compressor. What makes this so good compared to its predecessor you may ask? This new style compressor reduces vibration levels to ensure an even quieter operation
  • Low profile means it does not stick up too high off the top of your roof, minimizing drag while you travel, as well as reducing the chances of getting caught on low lying tree branches and there is no need for high clearance storage shed.
  • Suits both roof apertures 400x400m and 360x360mm making it easy to upgrade your old air conditioner.
  • Sleep mode & turbo mode
  • Adjustable vents
  • Airflow optimization that results in an increased efficiency

FAQ-

Can I use the Dometic Ibis 4 as a heater?

Yes, the Dometic Ibis 4 has both heating and cooling functionality.

What size generator do I need to run a Dometic Ibis 4?

The minimum required would be a 2kVa generator. However, if you plan on running more than just your caravan air conditioner, and to reduce stress on the generator, we do recommend using a 3.5kVA or even a 4kVA. When you factor in powering the whole van including charging computers and phones, tv, washing machine and or dryer, the microwave, Thermomix or air fryer, the Mrs hair dryer or straightener, the all important coffee machine and don’t forget your fridge, it all adds up.

What size van will a Dometic Ibis 4 cool down?

The Dometic Ibis 4 is suitable for use in vans up to 7 meters (23 foot).

How loud is the Dometic Ibis 4 air conditioner?

On low speed, the Dometic Ibis 4 has been measured to reach 40db of noise. To put this into context, a library is considered to be approx. 40dB, while fridges typically range between 32-47dB.

Will I bump my head on the internal of the Dometic Ibis 4?

This depends on how tall you are, but inside the unit is only 48mm. At 6’1 you will easily clear the internal unit.

Which is better, Dometic Ibis 4 or Dometic Harrier?
